Can Sugar Glider Eat Freeze Dried Fruit? Empty Can Sugar Glider Eat Freeze Dried Fruit?

While there is nothing wrong with feeding your glider a little bit of freeze dried fruit, it should be in moderation and not a daily snack. Keep in mind that too much sugar can cause health problems in pets.

Treats Should Only Make up Around 5 percent of Their Diet
Generally, treats should make up around 5 percent of their diet and should be given sparingly (one every few days is probably more appropriate). This includes things like crickets and mealworms, but also other treats that are very high in protein and fat.

New foods should be introduced to your glider one at a time and only be given as a small treat, usually in the form of a small portion of chopped fruit. This will help your glider to get used to the taste and smell of the new food before it becomes a regular part of their diet.

Freeze Dried Fruit and Other Treats
As far as sweet, crunchy treats for your sugar gliders go, freeze dried fruit is a very popular choice. These are sweet and delicious, and are easy to hand-feed to your gliders.

There are many different varieties of freeze dried fruits available. Some of our favorites include Fruit Medley (mango, coconut, papaya, and pineapple), Island Blend (tiny 1/8 " dices of pineapple and papaya), and Veggie Blend (sweet potatoes, carrots, green peas).

All the freeze dried fruits we sell contain no added artificial sweeteners. However, if you are concerned about your gliders' diets, please consult with your vet before you give them any kind of processed or dried food.
