Can Sugar Glider Eat Fruits? Empty Can Sugar Glider Eat Fruits?

Almost any type of fruit can be offered to sugar gliders, but it is best to only give them small amounts in moderation. Some fruits, such as peaches and plums, require that you remove the pit first so your pet can safely eat them.

Other types of fruits that can be given to a sugar glider include apples, bananas, and pineapple. However, it is important to note that these fruits are high in sugar and should be limited to a few times a week or less.

In the wild, sugar gliders are opportunistic omnivores that eat everything from insects and small birds to plants and even fruits that grow wild in their habitat. They also seek out honeycombs and nectar fruits to supplement their diet.

Their low metabolic rate and ability to go into torpor for long periods of time means that they do not need to consume much food. This is why a well-balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables and grains are vital for their health.

A sugar glider's diet should be based on high quality protein sources, such as chicken, eggs or soy and supplements of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as calcium-rich acacia gum to support their bones and teeth. To ensure that your sugar glider's diet is balanced and nutritious, make sure to change their meals on a regular basis. You should be feeding them greens and fruits at least twice a day, and try to vary the foods they eat each night so they get all of the nutrients they need.
